This project involved the adaptive reuse of an old residential building, transforming it into a versatile commercial space. Responding to the client’s request, we developed distinct layouts for three potential tenants: a doctor’s office, an interior design studio, and a yoga studio.
Across all schemes, the guiding principle was openness—maximizing natural light and creating fluid, flexible interiors that could adapt to different needs. Subtle interventions preserved the character of the existing structure while introducing clarity and coherence to the spaces.
Each proposal starts from the same structure and adapts it to a different use. For the medical office, the priority was a bright reception and a clear sequence between waiting, treatment and private areas; for the design studio, a large open workspace with display surfaces and a meeting room; and for the yoga studio, an uncluttered practice room supported by changing rooms and integrated storage.
A shared palette of light tones, natural wood and warm lighting unifies the three versions and gives the building a recognizable identity, regardless of who occupies it. Storage and services are concentrated in perimeter bands, freeing the center of the plan so each user can make the space their own with minimal changes.
The result is a building that embodies the potential of reuse: contemporary, adaptable, and ready to accommodate diverse programs while maintaining a sense of unity through light and openness.
